Case Manager Study Days – 2019 The Story So Far

Our case managers have attended two study days so far this year.  At the first held in January they enjoyed a presentation by Joanna Grewer (pictured), Partner with Irwin Mitchell LLP’s Court of Protection Team.

Our case managers often work very closely with our clients’ financial deputies and Joanna’s presentation gave invaluable background into the working of the Court of Protection team at Irwin Mitchell.

Joanna’s lively presentation gave insight into the role of the Financial Deputy, including some background into the Mental Capacity Act, how a Deputy is appointed and the Court processes, the role of the Court of Protection and what the Deputy needs from a case manager.

We were very grateful to Joanna for her presentation.

In April we had a further training day where we were delighted to welcome two speakers to Brownbill Associates.

In the morning we had a very informative presentation from Jo Frost (pictured) of The Speech Therapy Practice.  Her topic was “Cognitive Communication Difficulties.”  Jo’s presentation gave a welcome insight into the work of the Speech and Language Therapist in particular when working with clients who have sustained a traumatic brain injury.

Our final, presentation of the day was from Shane Booth (pictured) “The man that speaks”.  Shane shared with us details of his life pre-injury, the circumstances of his accident and his rehabilitation journey during a moving, amusing and thought-provoking presentation.

He was able to give first-hand experience of rehabilitation and case management after a traumatic brain injury.   As a client who works with Jo Frost, he was able to share his experience of the benefits of working with a speech and language therapist during his rehabilitation journey.

We are always extremely grateful to have the opportunity to welcome such wonderful speakers to Brownbill Associates.
