Lucy Pawlak is a dual qualified nurse with more than thirty years of experience, specialising in paediatrics including community, continuing care and complex discharges. She has spent the last ten years working in various roles, as a complex care discharge coordinator in two London teaching hospitals and leading children’s continuing care services for five CCGs. Lucy has comprehensive knowledge of assessing, planning and case managing children and young people with complex health needs and chronic conditions, both in acute and community settings. She has in-depth knowledge of setting up and managing personal health budgets (PHBs), also working alongside procurement teams in commissioning care packages, and supporting parents in choosing carers. Lucy is excellent at networking and building relationships with members of a multi-disciplinary team, to ensure that a child has access to all available services to maximise their potential. She has attention to detail for written documentation and has excellent skills in simplifying medical terms for non-clinical personnel. She is very personable and an excellent communicator with both clients and colleagues, ensuring a therapeutic and professional relationship is always maintained. She also has a passion for teaching and training and has worked as a part-time lecturer at a university teaching nursing under-graduates.
