Experience:
Lucy is a dual qualified nurse with many years of working with children, young people and their families with complex health and care needs.
Prior to case management she had various roles in the NHS, including in hospitals and the community gaining comprehensive knowledge of assessing and providing care and on-going support to the families, children and young people. This included working as a Complex Care Discharge Co-ordinator at 2 specialist Paediatric Hospitals, and managing Continuing Care services both in Buckinghamshire and London.
Through her work at Brownbill Associates Lucy has experience of working with children, young people and their families with a variety of needs including Cerebral palsy, Visual impairment, Learning disability and behavioural concerns. She is able to adapt and apply her knowledge to ensure that the client’s needs are met within a variety of settings. Lucy also has a keen interest in ensuring that children's sensory and play needs are met and has experience of working with a variety of therapists to develop these key areas and ensuring that the appropriate equipment is available.
Lucy is excellent at networking and building relationships with members of a multi-disciplinary team, to ensure that a child or young person has access to all available services to maximise their potential. This includes therapists and supporting families with accessing appropriate education, out of school activities, equipment, and suitable housing. She has attention to detail for written documentation and is skilful in simplifying medical terms for non-clinical personnel.
Lucy has many years of expertise of co-ordinating packages of care and support, particularly with the management of directly employed support workers, also working closely with care agencies. She ensures that all staff are compliant with their training and provides on-going support to the staff and family to ensure high standards of care are maintained at all times.
She is very personable and an accomplished communicator with clients, their families and colleagues, ensuring a therapeutic and professional relationship is maintained. She is very pro-active and is able to prioritise her work to ensure a timely response.
